Summary:
Human Genome Mapping is used by Genomic scientists to help families to find diseases and other illnesses hidden in family genes. Things like Alzheimer's or certain cardiac diseases can be found in your genes using Genome Mapping. Genome Mapping will not tell you if you will get that disease but more if there is a chance, and what that chance is. This test can be done using just a ordinary DNA sample like blood. The benefit to getting "Mapped" is to find genetic diseases for down the road, and plan ahead of time. My links review the background of genome mapping, what it is used for, and the benefits to Genome Mapping.
