What the heck is fascia?

Fascia in Relation to the Body
Fascia is a spider-web-like structure that is in the entire body. During the pig unit, it was hard to see, but as the skin and muscle layers were being cut, the layer similar said to be similar to shrink wrap was briefly revealed. This was fascia! If everything in your body but fascia were removed, there would be a 3D model exactly like you; down to the way your intestine wraps! Many people go about their lives undiagnosed with fascia trauma even if they have it (they may think it’s chronic pain), but now, there are developments in treatment, greatly affecting athletes' performances, as well as people's daily pain and well being. Some people prefer one area of treatment over another, such as acupuncture, which is based off of fascia's "energy" strings throughout the body, to taping (applying tape on the skin in alignment with the deep fascia). However, whichever treatment is chosen can greatly help in recovery. Fascia connects from your head to your feet, containing many different strings throughout the body. Treating it right can benefit one’s pain level and overall well being. There is no treatment proven to be "better," but any attempt at maintaining a healthy fascia helps.
